Noble Sylvester Timmons, Jr

Grayson, GA... Noble Sylvester “Tim” Timmons, Jr., age 93, beloved husband of forty years to the late Gladys Virginia Thames Timmons, died on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Benton House Senior Living in Grayson, GA.

Born in Canton, GA, he was the son of the late Noble Sylvester Timmons and Sallie Barron Timmons.  Tim received a BA in Military Science from the University of Nebraska and a MA from the University of Southern California and later received a BA in Accounting from the University of Florida.  He was a member of the US Air Force serving as a navigator.  During his stellar 28-year career, he received numerous accommodations and awards, including the “Distinguished Flying Cross”, before retiring in 1981 as a Lt. Colonel.  After his retirement from the air force, Tim sold real estate in Sumter for several years. Tim’s passion in life was playing golf and was a member of the “dirty dozen”, a self-named group of golf buddies.  He was very much a character who enjoyed socializing with his family and friends.  He had a dry but funny sense of humor who may have enjoyed his gin and tonic.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by one daughter, Sharron Erskine and her husband Dennis of Atlanta, GA; a son, Arlan Boggs of Los Angeles, CA and one granddaughter, Hadley Boggs of Los Angeles, CA.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a son William Timmons and a sister, Sara Cathy.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Miller officiating.  The interment will follow the service at 1:00 pm in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors.
