Betty L Moore

Sumter, SC…Betty Lou Russell Moore, age 84, beloved wife of the late Chief Master Sergeant Samuel F. Moore, died on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at her son’s residence.

Born in Fort Meade, SD, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton Russell and Hilja Larson Russell. Mrs. Moore worked in civil service for many years and taught literacy with Clemson Extension. She had served as President of the Palmetto Singles Club, Grand Royal Matron of the SC Order of the Amaranth and Grand Matron of the SC Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Moore was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church and was active with her circle group.

Surviving are: two sons, Samuel Moore and Thomas Moore, Sr. and his wife Raylene all of  Sumter; one brother, Robert Russell of Spearfish, SD; three grandchildren, Nikki Moore, Thomas Moore, Jr., and Catherine Moore and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Viiki Larson.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Getz. Interment will follow at 4:00 pm in the West View Cemetery in Easley, SC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at St. James Lutheran Church.
