Sumter, SC…Retired MSgt Edward David Woodard, age 64, beloved husband of the late Brenda Sue Wilson Woodard, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born in Lebanon, IN, he was the son of the late Edward Leon Woodard and Betty Jean Stackman Woodard. Edward retired after a distinguished 20-year career in the United States Air Force. He retired a decorated combat veteran. Upon retirement, he continued a Maintenance Technician career at various employers in Sumter. He is loved and is well known for helping others in need unselfishly. He will be greatly missed and will always be loved.
Four sons survive him: David S. Woodard of Oregon, Edward T. Woodard and his wife Marlene of Sumter, Anthony J. Woodard and his wife Christy of Idaho and Christopher L. Woodard of Sumter. Two sisters: Jennifer Smith and her husband Mark of Westfield, IN and Doris Shaad and her husband Ray of Waterford, OH. Five nieces and nephews: Stephanie Renee Smith Jones, Mindy Wickiser, Sonnie Jones, Mark McConnell, and TJ McConnell. Five grandchildren: Aidan Woodard, Ian Woodard, Jordan Woodard, Savannah Woodard and Ariyanna Woodard. One great-grandchild: Jazlyn Woodard.
In addition to his wife and parents, a sister, Tammy Perry, predeceases him.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10:00am at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors.
