Eleanor Patricia (Adams) Bartholf

Sumter, SC…Eleanor Patricia Adams Bartholf, age 89, wife of 61 years to the late John Copeland Bartholf, died on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at National Healthcare of Sumter.

Born in Sacramento, CA, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur Adams and Eleanor Charter Adams.  She loved the beach, tap dancing and was an avid sports fan.  Eleanor began her career as a stewardess for United Airlines working on a D3 passenger aircraft.  It was during this time that she met and fell in love with her husband, John, who was a pilot in the United States Air Force.  She spent 31 years as a loving and supportive military wife and was married for a total of 61 years.  Eleanor’s true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by; two sons, John P. Bartholf and his wife Lynette of Burlington, VT and Mark C. Bartholf and his wife Tiffany of Huntsville, AL; one daughter, Paige F. Weiland and her husband Bob, of Sumter, SC; one sister, Nina Clark and her husband Jim of Sacramento, CA and five grandchildren, Emily, Logan, Blair, Brooke and Rachel.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Judy Lauter and a brother-in-law, Stan Lauter.

Mrs. Bartholf will be laid to rest, with her husband, in Arlington National Cemetery, at a future date.
