Sumter, SC…Gaynell Shuler Garrett, age 95, beloved wife of the late Harold N. Garrett, Sr., died on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at NHC Healthcare of Sumter.
Born in Sylva, NC, she was the daughter of the late Harman Erastus Shuler and Nora Mae Wood Shuler. Mrs. Garrett retired after fifteen years from Chick-Fil-A of Burlington, NC. She loved to make cakes, pies and cookies and won several times at the Sumter County Fair for her baking skills. She also enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Northside Baptist Church of Burlington, NC.
Surviving are: one son, Harold N. Garrett, Jr. of Sumter; one granddaughter, Angela Dawn Garrett Hollister and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Ralph W. Shuler and his wife Annie Mae of Newport News, VA, and two sisters, Ruie Maxine Shuler Dean and her husband Robert of Candler, NC and Shirley Ione Shuler Mills and her husband Johnnie of Sylva, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date in the Alamance Memorial Park Cemetery, Burlington, NC.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2019, one hour prior to the service, from 2:00-3:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
