Sumter, SC…It is with great sadness that the family of Matthew J. Little announces his passing, on February 2, 2019, following his battle with colon cancer. He passed at Prisma Health Tuomey with his family and friends by his side. He was 49 years old.
Born and raised in Illinois, he was the son of Dennis Little and Jody Beham. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and South Carolina Air National Guard until he retired in September of 2016 with 23 years of service. Matty had an awesome sense of humor, he loved music, gardening, cooking and posting silly videos on Facebook. He was joyful about his life and never let his fight with cancer take that away.
Surviving are: his wife, Tabitha Little of Sumter; father, Dennis Little and his wife Kathy; mother, Jody Beham and her husband Gary; one son, Matthew W. Little of San Mateo, California; one daughter, Amelia H. Nelson and her husband Christopher of Red Springs, NC; one stepson, Gavin C. Arnold of Charleston, SC; one brother, Jeff Little and his wife Diane of Mclouth, KS; niece, Sophie Little; paternal grandmother, Beverly Buck of Macomb, IL; step grandmother, Sue Little of Ozark, MO; one stepbrother, Wesley Lundgren of Kansas City, KS; one stepsister, Jill (Brandon) Jackson of Macomb, IL along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Virgil and Doris VeNard, his paternal grandfather, David Little, and his paternal uncle, Gary Little.
A graveside service will be on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
