Shana (Chapmon) Cross

Sumter, SC… Shana Chapmon Cross, age 49, beloved wife of thirteen years to John “Johnny” W. Cross, Jr., died on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of Nyra Jean Chapmon and the late Leo Allen Chapmon. Shana graduated from MUSC and was an occupational therapist in Sumter for many years. She loved taking care of children and enjoyed baking cakes. She was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. Shana will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother, Nyra and her husband, John, she is survived by her children, Clayton W. Merritt of Charleston; Heather Merritt DuBose and her husband Caleb of Sumter; Emily Suzanne Cross of Columbia, and Chase Jordan Cross of Sumter; two brothers, Robney Chapmon of Atlanta, GA, and Trevar Chapmon and his wife Jill of Roanoke, VA; one sister, Cassandra Chapmon Painter and her husband Michael of Sumter; seventeen nieces and nephews, seven great nieces and nephews and her grand puppies.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Clay Smith and Rev. Jock Hendricks officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 am at Bullock Funeral Home.
