Allison Dean Beckworth

Dalzell, SC … Allison Dean Beckworth, age 84, beloved husband of 61 years to Yoshiko Akamine Beckwoth, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born in Tarrytown, GA, he was the son of the late Bobbie L. Beckworth and the late Thelma J. Dorminey.  Allison retired from the US Airforce as a SMSGT after 29 years of service.  He then went to work at Cutler Hammer in Sumter, SC where he worked for over 10 years of service.  Allison was a very good athlete throughout his life, participating in football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and fast pitch softball.  He was an avid golfer and even worked part time during his retired years at the Shaw AFB Country Club, in part to support his golfing habit.  His true joy in life came from spending time with his family.  He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. 

In addition to his wife, Yoshiko, he is survived by; two sons, Michael D. Beckworth and his wife Lynda of Irmo, SC and Bobby D. Beckworth and his wife, Renee Mattei of Ninety-Six, SC; a grandson, Bobby D. Beckworth, Jr. and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Robert Beckworth, a brother, James Traft Beckworth, a sister, Bobbie Joe Ward, and family.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 3:00 pm in the Ft. Jackson Nation Cemetery, with full military honors.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
