Sumter, SC…Audrey A. White, age 85, beloved wife of the late James D. White, died on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.
Born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late John A. Owens and Hazel Sowers Owens. Mrs. White retired from The Sumter Item as an independent carrier and was a homemaker. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She was respected and loved by all who knew her. Mrs. White was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church.
Surviving are: two sons, John Steven White and his wife Cindie
of N. Augusta, SC; and Scott Lee White and his wife Toni of Ft. Worth, TX; two daughters, Martha Carter and her husband Rickey; and Brenda Mettetal both of Sumter; eight grandchildren, Shawna Bell, Jill Winter, Christina Carter, Kimberly Champagne, Rebecca Mettetal, Katie Mettetal, Jeffery White, and Michael White; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
A private service will be held in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Massey officiating.
Due to Covid 19, the family will not be receiving friends at the residence.
