Sumter, SC…Barbara “Gra-Gra" Simpson Norris, beloved wife of 54 years to John “Buddy” M. Norris Sr., entered eternal life on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
Born in Louisville, KY on October 13, 1946, she was a daughter of the late James Simpson and Rose Buckman Simpson. Barbara was of Catholic faith and was a member of Our Lady of the Skies Faith Community at Shaw AFB where she served as a Lector. She was a member and past president of the Catholic Women of the Chapel. She was retired from the National Bank of South Carolina. During her husband’s Air Force career, she also was employed by General Telephone Co. in Sumter, the Internal Revenue Department in Oklahoma City, OK, National Grange Mutual Insurance Co in Syracuse, NY and Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Louisville, KY.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by; a son, John Malcolm Norris Jr. of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; a daughter, Lynn Michelle Norris Smith and her husband Eddie of Sumter; four grandchildren, Tyler Austin Smith, Adam Michael Smith, McKenzie Rose Smith and Madison Leigh Smith; a brother, James Thomas Simpson and his wife Sue of Smyrna, GA; a brother-in-law, Randolph W. Norris and his wife Rita of Savannah, GA; six special cousins, Rose Coomes, Mary Ann Carter, Patricia Gutman and her husband Ron, Martin Hartlage and his wife Sue, Kathleen Michels and her husband Ron all of Louisville, KY and Marilyn Follo of Torrance, CA and many loving nieces, nephews and second cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 12:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Msgr. Karl A. Chimiak officiating. A private family inurnment will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 2:00pm at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
