Alcolu, SC …… Bates Coy McCutchen, age 20, son of Heather Collins and Joe McCutchen beloved grandchild, nephew, cousin, and friend died on Thursday, 06/16/22 in a motorcycle accident outside of Lake City, SC.
He finished Manning High School and became a certified welder. He excelled in creative technical projects. He was a budding chef who enjoyed spicey food and loved to grill for his family. Modifying his truck, playing with his dog, and shooting on the range were some of his favorite pastimes.
God blessed us with his presence on November 10, 2001. He was a caring, loving, kind, and unfailingly loyal. He was an amazing young gentleman. We will forever miss him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandmother, Linda Snyder Veal and step grandfather, Jimmy Veal; grandparents, Mary Jo and Lucian McCutchen; four aunts, Heidi Coursey and her husband Billy, Ann Lighthill, Cynthia Ballard, and Mary Amanda Ramirez and her husband Jeff; and cousins, Dalton and Holdyn Coursey and Jodi O’Conner and her husband Josh.
He is preceded in death by, grandfather, Mitchell Collins and great grandparents, Coy and Mary Collins, Marshall and Verna Snyder and a cousin, Ashley Ballard and Benny Snyder.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel, 1190 Wilson Hall Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sumter United Ministries, 36 S Artillery Dr, Sumter, SC 29150 or Oasis Church, PO Box 2874, Sumter, SC 29151.
Burial will be private.
