Sumter, SC…On Friday, March 6th, 2020, Carol Benson Rose, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 88. Carol was residing with his family in Sumter, South Carolina. He was born on February 9th, 1932 in Ontario, Oregon to George and Lillian Rose.
He graduated from Vale High School in 1950. He held various positions throughout his adult life, owning a dry cleaning business, a clothing store and lastly worked as an accounts receivable clerk at Oregon Telephone Corp. Carol was an enlisted member of the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7) prior to his retirement from service to our country.
On July 20th, 1967, he married Laura Lee Shank. They raised one son, Loren. Carol was very active with the Episcopal church. He was the presiding Minister at St. Thomas in Canyon City, Oregon for many years before retiring and ultimately residing in Casa Grande, Arizona where he continued to be very involved as member of the congregation at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Carol was preceded in death by his father, George, his Mother Lillian and his wife, Laura. He is survived by son Loren (Allison), grandchildren, Kayla, Scott, Krystina Rourke (Sean), Jeffery, Daniel and Hope-Margaret. Great Grandchildren, Devon, Sean, Adalia, Catherine, and Braylen.
Services will be held at a later date, yet to be determined.
