Sumter, SC…Dean Edward Boothe, age 72, beloved husband of 53 years to Susan Lou Walton Boothe, died on Friday, February 7, 2020 at his residence.
Born in Franklin, LA, he was a son of the late Herman Edward Boothe and Annie Mae LaBlanc. After graduating high school, Dean enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Navy for over 30 years, retiring as a Master Chief in 1995. After his service in the Navy, he went to work for an additional 15 years with Enersys / Sumter Metal Products. Growing up, Dean was always involved in Boy Scouts and achieved the level of the Order of the Arrow. He continued his involvement with the Boy Scouts as an adult serving as a Scout Master. Dean had a very positive influence, shaping the lives of many children that he mentored in the Boy Scouts as well as his own family. Six of his fourteen grandchildren decided to served their country due to his influence. Dean was a devoted husband and family man and his true joy in life was spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Dean is survived by his wife, Susan, he is survived by; three daughters, Cynthia Mooneyham and her husband Joel of Hempstead, TX, Jennifer Nelson and her husband Robert of Franklinville, NY and Melissa Gerlt and her husband Brian of Sumter; one son, Kenny Mitchell of Utah; three brothers, Tracy Boothe and his wife Patty of Franklin, LA, Thomas Boothe and his wife Melynda of Dallas, TX and Vincent Boothe of Houston, TX; two sisters, Lisa LeBeau and her husband Joey of Youngstown, LA and Vanessa Miller and her husband A.J. of Lafayette, LA; two sister-in-laws, Gayle George and Sally Iannarelli, both of Sumter; nineteen grandchildren, Malinda, Courtney, Michael, Patrick, Nicole, Shelby, Alyssa, Madyson, Morgyn, Emily, Billy, Keighly, Theron, Jayden, Jack, Joel, Jacob, Memphis and Phoenix; eleven great grandchildren, Christian, Pryia, Ellie, Wesley, Lilly, Leo, Jude, Indiana, Carter, Emerie, and Amelia in addition to numerous nieces and nephews that were thought of as grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by; one sister, Beryle Boone and a grandson, Parker Grubb.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home with full military honors.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February, 10, 2020, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
