Dwight Ernest Geddings

Sumter, SC…Dwight Ernest Geddings, age 86, husband of the late Mamie Beatrice Geddings, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6, 2020 at his residence.

Born in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Joseph Lewis Geddings and Annie Johnson Geddings.  He was a retired contractor and a lifelong member of Pinewood Baptist Church.  Dwight was a very talented wood worker and was a member of the Lion’s Club and the Woodmen of the World.

His surviving family members include; two sons, Barry Geddings and Travis Geddings; two daughters, Sandra Burkepile and her husband Dan and Angela Nicholes; a special son-in-law, Wesley Harrison and Kimberly Nicholes; five grandchildren, Megan Geddings, Alex Nicholes and his wife Savannah, Gabrielle Harrison, Jillian Harrison and Rodrigo Aviles; five great grandchildren, Jacob Logan Mitchum, Isabella Aviles, Ava Childers, Ryleigh Nicholes and Caleb Childers and one brother, Belton Geddings.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife Mamie, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Geddings; seven brothers, Marion Geddings, Grady Geddings, John M. Geddings, J.L. Geddings, Rembert Geddings, Leslie Geddings and Cecil Geddings and three sisters, Judy Lewis, Vivian Boyer and Daisy Kolb.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 11:00 am at Bullock Funeral Home with Pastor Donna Green and Rev. Brian Gray officiating.  Interment will follow the service in The Pinewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service, from 10:00-11:00 am on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the family residence.

Palbearers will be Vern Meade, Robby Pack, Lon Calhoun, Greg Hawkins, Mickey Geddings and Clark Phillips.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Barwick, L.C. McKenzie, Ken Hundley, Mack Paul, R.L. Tidwell and the Forever Young Sunday School Class of Pinewood Baptist Church.
