Lexington, SC…Edison Joshua Cockerill, age 27, beloved Fiancée of April Courtney Fleming, died on Friday, September 1, 2023, at his residence.
Born in Lexington, SC, he was the son of Newton DuPree Cockerill and Helen Hubbard Cockerill. Josh had a very charismatic personality and people were always drawn to him. Know to have the “gift of gab” and a terrific sense of humor, josh never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and gaming with “The Boys”. His true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his fiancée, April, and his daughter Anleigh. He will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to his parents and fiancée, Josh is survived by; a daughter Anleigh Jade Cockerill of Lexington; five brothers, Wesley Hubbard of West Columbia, Joe Cockerill of Sumter, Shaughn Cockerill and his wife Jessica of Greenville, Austin Shealy and his wife Jamie of Camden, and Hunter Shealy of Columbia; a stepfather, Lewis Shealy of Columbia, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and an army close friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Taylor Plantation, 127 Taylor Lane, Lexington, SC 29073.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne McElveen officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 2:00-3:00 pm at Providence Baptist Church.
