Fumiko Murakami Richardson

Sumter, SC………………. Fumiko Murakami Richardson, age 90, died on Friday, January 27th, 2023, at her home.

Mrs. Richardson was born in Oita Ken, Japan and was the youngest daughter of Masao and Yuru Murakami of Japan. She was the wife of the late Leroy D Richardson, who retired from Shaw AFB in 1976. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her talents were oil painting, sewing, crocheting, and baking cakes. But she loved spending time with family and her grandchildren most. She was a gentle soul and had great compassion for all living things. She will always be remembered and missed dearly.

Survivors are: Two daughters, Margie R. Chappell and Karen Richardson, both of Sumter; Five grandchildren; and Five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leroy D. Richardson, and a daughter, Joann Y. Richardson.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive from 10:00am – 12:00pm, Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 at Bullock Funeral Home.
