Ida Jean (Lovelace) Payne

Sumter, SC…Ida Jean Lovelace Payne, age 85, beloved wife of sixty-six years to John Glynn Payne, died on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Lovelace and Cora Jane Brown Lovelace. Mrs. Payne was a partner in the family commercial fishing business and had travelled extensively with her husband while he was in the US Navy. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband John of Sumter, she is survived by two sons, John Steven Payne of Elgin and Anthony Glynn Payne of Montgomery, AL; one brother, Bill Lovelace of NC; one sister, Rachel McKenzie of Timmonsville; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Lovelace, and Weldon Lovelace and two sisters, Betty Lou Radcliff, and Elizabeth Brown.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Tifton, GA.
