James Richard Cahill, Jr.

Sumter, SC…James Richard Cahill, Jr., Age 87, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born on October 8, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late James Richard Cahill and Agnes Roche Cahill.  James served in the United States Navy, on a destroyer, during the Korean conflict and later drove a trolley car in the city of Boston, MA for many years.  In his later years, he retired in Sumter, SC.  He was known for loving to tell a joke or story and bringing a smile to your face.

He is survived by; four children, Dr. James Cahill (Lori) of Sumter, SC, Shirley Guidoboni (Michael) of Tyngsborough, MA, John Cahill of Bedford, MA and Paul Cahill of Telford, PA; seven grandchildren, Ben Cahill (Cindy), Joseph Cahill (Chloe), Jared Guidoboni, Nicholas Guidoboni, Cynthia Crawford (Shawn), Jessica Eady (Pernell) and Amanda Cahill; six great grandchildren, Caryna Cotto, Amara Cotto, Anthony Crawford, Lincoln Crawford, Pernell Eady, Jr. and James Sterling Cahill and honorary great grandchildren, Joseph, Sean and Benjamin Buzhardt of Columbia, SC.

A private graveside service will be held  on Friday, October 2, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with Msgr. Karl Chimiak officiating.  The honor guard of the U.S. Navy will provide military honors.
