Obituary

Summerton, SC………… Janet Elizabeth Robinson Redel, age 72, beloved wife of 48 years to Dale James Redel, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 27th, 2023.

She was born on May 6th, 1951 in Sumter, SC, a daughter of the late Douglas Wesley Robinson, Jr. and Winnie Welch Robinson. She married Dale Redel October 30th, 1974 in Sumter, SC. She began working in 1989 with her father at the family business, Doug Robinson Cover Shop. She enjoyed working and following in her dad’s footsteps. She proudly worked up until her passing. Janet enjoyed going on cruises and traveling to new places. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but her greatest passion was being with her children and grandchildren. Janet had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

Surviving in addition to her husband are: One son, Chris L. Redel and his fiancé Kim Sweet of Lexington, SC; a son-in-law, Bradley Mikula of Sumter, SC; Two brothers, Douglas Wesley Robinson, III of Manning, SC, and Jimmy Robinson of Summerton, SC; Two sisters, Windy Atkinson of Sumter, SC, and Linda Poole of Bishopville, SC; and Four grandchildren, Micah, Halle, & Bryce Redel and Tylor Mikula.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Lesley Pauline Mikula.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Janet touched are invited to the Calvary Nazarene Church, 4235 Nazarene Church Rd., Sumter, SC 29154 on August 12th at 3pm. In celebration of Janet’s life, the family is requesting a “Life is Good”, “Simply Southern” or a purple shirt be worn. Flip Flops welcomed.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Janet and Lesley’s names.
