Jessie Dority Lusk

Sumter, SC…Jessie Dority Lusk, age 81,  beloved wife of the late William Cecil “Pete” Lusk, died on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the McCoy Nursing Center in Bishopville.

Born in Sumter County, she was the daughter of Jessie Dority and Sadie Mathis Dority.  Mrs. Lusk worked for Williams Furniture and Korn Industries. She loved to sew and garden. Mrs. Lusk was a member of the Walkers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church where she was a trustee and played the piano for over 36 years.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

Surviving are: two sons, Ervin W. Boykin and his wife Amanda of Wateree, and Carl E. Boykin and his wife, Lynette of Sumter; two daughters, Theressa Hiles and her husband Gene of Wedgefield, and Nancy L. Meares and her fiancé Darren Polutta of Sumter; and a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Inez Richburg and Lillie Mae Dority Butler.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nathaniel Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Walkers Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 99 Walter Ave, Sumter, SC 29153.
