Joe F Ashworth

Sumter, SC…Joe F. Ashworth, age 76, beloved husband of forty-seven years to Janet S. Ashworth died on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at his residence.

Born in Bowman, Georgia, he was the son of the late Fred and Pauline Ashworth. Mr. Ashworth retired from the United States Air Force. He was a heavy equipment operator and later worked for Sanders Brothers. He loved to restore cars, ride motorcycles, watch auto racing and spend time in the outdoors. He was the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his wife Jan of Sumter, he is survived by one daughter, Angela Ashworth Lyons and her husband Stephen of Wedgefield; one sister, Alice Albanese and her husband Roger of Elberton, GA; two grandchildren, Kayla and Dolton both of Sumter, SC; and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will be held at later date in the Arlington National Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Lyons, Mackenzie Lyons, Jesse Tisdale, Shawn Tisdale, Ron Tisdale, Jamie Tisdale, and Stacy Archie.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
