John Alvin Tallent

Sumter, SC ... John Alvin Tallent, age 52, beloved husband of 33 years to Pamela Jean Baugh Tallent, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the McLeod Regional Medical Center.

Born in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of George Thomas Tallent, Sr. and Ethel Grace Gladhill Tallent. Mr. Tallent enjoyed military aviation history; the F-16 was his favorite plane. In addition, he loved the Dallas Cowboys and the LA Dodgers. Most importantly he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and he recently joined Calvary Bible Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Trent Tallent and his wife Jessica, Jeffrey Tallent and his wife Kayla and Justin Tallent and his wife Ashleigh all from Sumter; six grandchildren, Evan, Lucas, Coulson, Colin, Micah, and Caleb Tallent; two brothers, Tom Tallent and his wife Patty of Pennsylvania, and Chris Tallent and his wife Debbie of Sumter; and two sisters, Vicky Sherrill and her husband Larry of Drakes Branch, VA, and Trudy Hansen and her husband Eric of San Angelo, TX.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 3:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rick Edwards officiating. A private interment will be held in the Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 2:00-3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Bullock Funeral Home.
