Johnny Samuel Tallent

Sumter, SC…………. Johnny Samuel Tallent, Sr., age 73, beloved husband of 43 years to the late Josie Rae Roland Tallent, died Thursday, March 9th, 2023 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Mr. Tallent was born in Monroe, TN, a son of the late Frank Buddy Tallent and Reba Stamey Tallent. He was a retired truck driver. Johnny loved Nascar, classic old cars, watching John Wayne Movies, and his family. He served in the United States Army and completed a tour of combat duty in Vietnam.

Survivors are: One son, John S. Tallent, Jr. of Seaford, DE; One daughter, Karen Tallent Wright and her husband Jeff of Harrington, DE; One step-son, Shannon Leach and his wife Marie of Sumter, SC; Two step-daughters, Michele "Shelli" Evans and her husband Ted of Blythewood, SC, and Kelly “Riki” Oglesby and her husband Ronnie of Richmond Hill, GA; Two brothers, Frank Tallent and Terry Tallent of DE; One sister, Marie Tallent London of DE; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.: and his beloved chihuahua, Mango.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a step-daughter, Deborah Sanders, and four sisters, Mary Alice Collins, Helen Taylor, Joann Wise, and Jean Horseman.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 13th, 2023 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30pm, Monday, March 13th, 2023 at Bullock Funeral Home.
