Kenneth Schmidt Obituary

Sumter, SC...Kenneth Carl "Ken" Schmidt, 82, beloved husband of F. Delores “Dee” Lowder Schmidt, died on Monday, September 7, 2020.

 

Born August 24, 1938 in North Tonawanda, NY, son of the late Kenneth George Schmidt and Elaine Broeker Schmidt, he was a retired United States Air Force Senior Master Sergeant and a Vietnams veteran.

 

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dee; a brother, L. Paul Schmidt and his wife Cela of Williamsburg, VA; three sisters, Patricia S. Barlow and her husband Tom of Bradenton, FL; Pauline S. Eshelman and her husband Roger of Mannington, WV, and Jill S. Tong of Reno, NV;  a sister-in-law, Sheila Lowder Purkey and her husband Rob Baen of Westmont, NJ; many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice S. Buzie and Marcia S. Gentry, and two brothers, Vernon L. Schmidt and Daryl Schmidt; paternal grandparents, George Carl Schmidt and Mabel Morgan Schmidt; maternal grandparents, his mother’s much loved adopted parents, Gustave Carl Broeker and Meta Klingbeal Broeker, and his mother's biological mother, Louise Busch; his father-in-law and mother-in-law who loved him like a son, Allen Ludlow Lowder and Ella Mae McClard Lowder Carter, a sister-in-law, Linda Lowder Alsbrooks Tidwell.

 

According to his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation and funeral services. Burial will be at the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
