Sumter, SC … Leon Edward Gandy, Jr., age 75, beloved husband of 57 years to Brenda Joye Dixon Gandy, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at his residence.
Born in Sumter, Leon was the son of the late Leon Edward Gandy, Sr. and the Late Catherine Amerson Gandy. He was the owner/operator of Gandy’s Trim Shop, in Sumter, for many years. Leon was an avid car enthusiast and has refurbished cars for himself as well as many others in the community. He was an active and longtime member of Bethesda Church of God where he has served as the Sunday School Director for many years. Leon’s faith in God was seen in his everyday life and he served his church sacrificially in many ways. His true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Brenda, are two sons, Lee Gandy and his wife Lori of Sumter, and Alan Gandy and his wife Jennifer of Columbia; a daughter, Gracie Chorey and her husband Lee of Sumter; two sisters, Linda Griggs of Patrick, SC and Dottie Wheeler of Louisiana; twelve grandchildren, Brian, Todd, Brittany, Brennan, Storm Alexis, Breanna, Summer, Morgan, Stryker, Jacob, Tim and Jennifer, and 15 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Gandy, and Steve Gandy.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 11:00 am at Bethesda Church of God with the Rev. H. Albert Sims officiating. The interment will follow in the Ashwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 28, 2021, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
