Marvin George Loomis

Sumter, SC…CMSGT (RET) Marvin George Loomis, age 87, beloved husband of the late Jan Bartlette Loomis, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at The Gardens of Sumter.

Born in Prentice, WI, he was a son of the late Emery Loomis and Florence Bochler Loomis.  After graduating high school, Marvin joined the United States Air Force where he served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Thailand.  He retired in 1974 after 24 years of service.  Marvin was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to pull practical jokes.  He was a very generous man and helped many people during his lifetime.  He will be remembered as a very loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by; a daughter, Vicki Carty of Sumter; a brother, Darrelyd Loomis and his wife Edna of Catabaw, WI; a sister Sharon Stephens and her husband Mike of Shakapee, MN and three granddaughters, Courtney Michelle McLeod and her wife Lindsay, Ashley Nichole Wood and Lindsay Carty.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Louise Loomis; son-in-law, Ronald Gene Carty; two brothers, Kenny Loomis and Robert Loomis and a sister, Agnes Kralecheck.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home with the Rev. Jock Hendricks officiating.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
