Matthew Singleton Obituary

Sumter, SC…Matthew “Matt” Blanding Singleton, age 73, died on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Sumter.

Born in Sumter County, SC, he was a son of the late Lizzie Esther “Liz”  Brown Singleton and the late Earl and Hattie Blanding.  Matthew loved to ride his bike and play cards with his family.  He was a father figure to Daniel, Victoria, Kenneth, Sheila and Rosanna.

He is survived by; one son, Matthew Perry and his wife Altovise of Sumter; one daughter, Quinisha Perry of Sumter; six sisters, Mary Alice Miller, Maranda Evans and her husband Clero, Delores Benton-Maynor and her husband Wilbert, Vivian Beamer and her husband Donald, Sandra Blanding and Kimberly Blanding; one brother in law, Eddie Richardson of Sumter, eleven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by; one sister, Ernestine Blanding Richardson.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 10:00 am in the Willow Gove AME Church Cemetery with Rev. Wallace Preston officiating.
