Priscilla Dickey Obituary

Priscilla Susan Holmes Dickey, beloved wife of 60 years to John Alan Dickey, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Born in Fitchburg, MA, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Toivo Holmes and Elvie Catherine Siipola Holmes.  Priscilla graduated from Smith College in Northhampton, MA and taught preschool and kindergarten for several years.  She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and was a member of both the Sumter Garden Club and the Sumter Newcomers Club.  Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was a light to all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Timothy Dickey and his wife Jennifer Hambrick; five daughters, Heather Brown and her husband Marion, Holly Ridgway and her husband Jon, Jennifer McConnell and her husband Jay, Alissa Dickey, and Sarah Schumacher and her husband Blake; a brother, Edwin Theodore Holmes; a sister, Nancy Helene Holmes Goodale and her husband, Glenn, and ten grandchildren, Caroline, Caden, Jack, Alex, Charlie, James, Grayson, Brennan, Katie Cutler, Elvie.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 11:30 – 12:30 at First Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Chuck Staggs officiating.
