Sumter, SC…Richard Charles Cook, Jr., age 71, beloved husband of Kathie Cook, died on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Born in Sumter, he was the son of the late Richard Charles Cook and Betty Horton Cook. Mr. Cook served is the US Army and moved back to Sumter where he started Cook Refrigeration, a company he was proud of and ran with integrity into his final days. He grew to admire aviation, earning his pilot’s license and flying for many years before grounding himself and taking on the open road with his wife in their motorhome.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: one son, Richard Cook III (Ashley Cook), two daughters, Jennifer Schmidt (Nils Schmidt), and Kimberly Antsey; one sister, Karen Whitney; six grandsons, Richard Wooten, Calvin Anstey, Nathan Bradd, Aidan Bradd, Levi and Leland Cook; four granddaughters, Kayla Anstey, Celine Anstey, Ava Cook, and Ellie Schmidt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Feb 13th from 11am to 1pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
