Sumter, SC…Robert Michael Dickson, Sr., age 76, beloved husband of 49 years to Nancy Catherine Boos Dickson, died on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at MUSC Charleston.
Born in Kingston, PA, he was the son of the late Edward Dickson and Stella Kuzma Dickson. Bob worked with Merck and Company Pharmaceuticals his entire career developing vaccines as well as the recombinant method of vaccine production. He enjoyed carpentry and photography, but mostly, he enjoyed his retirement. During his retirement he loved to travel and enjoyed the RV/Motor Home life. Bob's true joy in life came from spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Nancy, are; a daughter, Kristina Marlowe and her husband Michael of Sumter, three sisters, Gloria Dickson, Theresa Dickson, both of Wyoming, PA and Mary Deneff and her husband Michael of Monument, CO; a grandson, Michael Marlowe of Sumter and nephew, Michael Deneff and his wife Luanne of Colorado.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by; a son Robert Dickson, Jr. and a brother, Edward Dickson.
A private family Memorial Mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, 1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, SD 57325.
Due to Covid-19, the family requests all visitors wear a facemask and practice social distancing.
