Rembert, SC … Tonjua Deneane Nelson Teague, age 58, treasured wife of 27 years to Andrew Lee Teague, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
Born in New Bern, NC, she was the daughter of Annette Elizabeth Ricks Nelson and the late Joseph Franklin Nelson Sr.
For years Tonjua had her own business, Paw Prints LLC, so she could have the best of both worlds, the animals she loved to care for and her children, David, and Elizabeth, that she did not want to leave to go to work. She was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church where she also could carry out one of her favorite hobbies, painting for Jesus! When cancer and chemo made it too hard to paint, the Lord opened another door for Tonjua. She began crocheting hats for cancer patients to give glory to God for all his blessings. She crocheted well over three thousand hats in all. Tonjua loved spending time observing God’s beautiful creations and hiking through the woods. However, Tonjua’s favorite way to spend time, no doubt was with her precious children and husband whom she loved so dearly.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother is a son, David James Dexter, a daughter, Elizabeth Jean Teague Nelson, and her husband Matthew; and two brothers, Joseph Franklin Nelson Jr., and Dale Nelson.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, from11:00-2:00 pm at Alice Drive Baptist Church. At Tonjua’s request, she ask that all friends dress casual for her service.
