Sumter, SC ….. Virlon Louise Ray Gaulding, age 90, beloved wife of the late Andrew Gaulding, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at her residence.
Born in Tallapoosa, GA, she was the daughter of the late John Calloway Ray and Ocie Lee Daniel Ray. She worked for NAF on Shaw AFB for over 20 years. Louise loved the Lord and was a long-time member of Crossbridge Christian Church, Autumn Woods Campus. She was a past member of the Colorettes and the Ladies Auxiliary and the MRMA Club as well as an active member of The Morning Glory’s. Some of her favorite activities were camping, fishing, bowling and loved watching the Atlanta Braves. Her true passion in life was spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Louise is survived by; a son, Keith Gaulding of Dalzell; a daughter, Karen Michalik and her husband John of Dalzell; a brother, Lewis E. Ray; five grandchildren, Travis, January, Lindsey, Melissa and Kimberly and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Ann Gaulding; a grandson, Andrew Franklin Gaulding and a brother, Lindsey “L.D.” Ray.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Brown Officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Bullock Funeral Home.

A private interment will be held at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
