Sumter, SC …. William David Eady, age 85, beloved husband of Martha Jean “Jeanie” Smith Eady, died on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born in Due West, SC, he was the son of the late John Nesbit Eady and Francis Isabel Rampey Eady. David graduated from The Citadel and then was commissioned as an infantry officer as an Airborne Ranger in the US Army. He served his country proudly for over twenty-one years. David and family attended church services at the Shaw AFB Chapel. He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, The Citadel Alumni Association, and the American Legion Post 15. He will be remembered as a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his loving wife, Martha, he is survived by; a stepson, Keith White of Camden, SC; a stepdaughter, Susan Jones and her husband Steve of Dallas, OR; a sister, Rampey Thomas and her husband Charles of Clemson, SC, and four grandchildren, Dane Jones, Kyle Jones, Parker White, and Taylor DeBeers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, William David Eady, Jr. and his brother, John Nesbit Eady, Jr.
A private family memorial service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 12:00 pm in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military honors.
