Sumter, SC …… William Henry Phillips, Jr., age 73, beloved husband of 53 years to Judy White Phillips, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born in in Sumter, he was the son of the late William Henry Phillips and Sarah Ridgeway Phillips. He was the owner, operator and President of William’s Corvette Shop. William was an automobile enthusiast. He loved the SC beaches, especially Garden City and loved attending racing with his friend, Gordan Logan. He was devoted to his family; Judy was not only his wife but his best friend working with him on all their business ventures. William will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife Judy are: one son, William Henry “Bill” Phillips, III and his wife Melinda of Sumter; three grandchildren, Chad Phillips, Matt Phillips and Braxton Phillips all of Sumter; one great grandchild, Susan Casselman and her husband Matt of Manning and three great great grandchildren, Hallie, Mattie and Emma.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and J.W. Phillips.
Services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale, Memphis, TN 38105-2479.
