William "Billy" Vipperman

Sumter, SC…William C. “Billy” Vipperman, III, age 43, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at his home in Sumter, SC.

Born in Sumter, SC on May 30, 1980, he was the son of William “Bill” Vipperman Jr. and Judy Bowen Minarik.  Billy was an incredible singer/songwriter who worked tirelessly, with unmatched perseverance and unbridled passion, to perfect his craft and become the outstanding musician that he absolutely was at the time of his passing.  There was no instrument that he could not pick up and with which, make a beautiful noise.  Besides his musical talents, Billy was an impressive visual artist as well as an undeniably charismatic speaker.  During his short time on Earth, Billy would assure anyone that asked that he was greatly inspired every single day.  By the same token, he was definitely an inspiration to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Billy is survived by his beloved wife of seventeen years, Kristel Sladic Vipperman; two sons, whom he absolutely adored, Staley James (14), and Baxley Thomas (11).  He also left behind both of his parents and his stepmother, Karen Vipperman; his maternal grandparents, Rev. Thomas Edward and Margaret Bowen; a sister, Shannon McLeod (Stevie); a brother, Joseph Vipperman (Destiny); two stepsisters, Emily Garcia, and Rebecca Woolever; as well a several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Billy is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Betty King Vipperman, and his aunt, Ethel Vipperman Bradley.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at 4:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel, 1190 Wilson Hall Rd., Sumter, SC, 29150.
