Columbia, SC …. William James “Chip” Wilkins III, of 6 Godbold Court, died peacefully on Tuesday at home.

Born in Florence, SC, on August 27, 1940, Chip was the one and only son of the late William James Wilkins Jr. and Virginia Boney Wilkins.

Chip is survived by Betsy Wilkins, his wife, business partner and best friend of 55 years. In addition, Chip is survived by his daughter, Virginia Wilkins Butler and granddaughters Mary Grace Butler and Agnes Theresia Butler of Columbia, SC.

Family and friends will celebrate Chip’s life at home on his birthday, August 27, from 3 – 5 p.m.
