Portland, ME…William H. “Bill’ Crandall, age 89, died on Friday, July 9, 2021.
Born on November 8, 1931in Danvers, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Peach and Myrtle Crandall. Mr. Crandall retired from the US Air Force with over twenty years of service. He was well known for his small engine repair knowledge and had taught at Central Carolina Technical College. He was a former resident of Sumter before moving to Tennessee and Maine.
Surviving are: his wife, Cathy Crandall of Portland, ME; two sons, Donald Crandall and his wife Angela of Panama City, FL and Bill Crandall and his wife Debbie of Sumter; one son-in-law, Randy Benenhaley of Sumter; eight grandchildren, Holly Crandall, Stacy Stewart, Daniel Crandall, Jared Benenhaley, Travis Crandall, Megan Lybrand, Trent Crandall, and Tyler Crandall; and five great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn L. Crandall and his daughter, Jodee V. Benenhaley.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
