Sumter, SC…Edward A. Boykin, age 84, died on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Prisma Tuomey Hospital.
Born on September 19, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frierson W. Boykin and Carrie L. Boykin. Mr. Boykin attended public school in Philadelphia and graduated from Overbrook High School where he played on the varsity basketball team with Wilt Chamberlain. He also served in the Air Force and enjoyed managing an art gallery outside of Philadelphia before retiring to Sumter in 1998. He was kind-hearted and a friend to all.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie Boykin of Los Angeles, CA, and a host of cousins including Sammie E. Sanders, Boykin Sanders, William Sanders, Dempsey Sanders, Pearl Sanders, Felicia Lloyd, Mazola Jenkins, Adam Boykin and Harry Boykin as well as his devoted long-time caretaker, Tim Dinkins.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his sister, Rita, and wife, Ruth.
Memorial Services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Bullock Funeral Home.
