Chesapeake, VA…Elwood E. “Woody” McLeod, Jr. went to be with the Lord December 28, 2018 in Chesapeake, VA.
Born in Sumter, he was the son of the late Elwood E. “Jiggs" McLeod and Pauline Eagerton McLeod. Woody graduated from Sumter High School and the University of South Carolina with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked at the Naval Base in Charleston, SC for many years. When it closed, he transferred to the Norfolk Naval Base in Virginia until he retired November 30, 2018. He worked with the Western Branch Softball League in Chesapeake for many years and was an avid deer hunter. He loved spending time with the light of his life his granddaughter, Vera.
He is survived by his twin daughters, Claire Elizabeth McLeod (Steven) and Stephanie Pauline McLeod (Lane), a sister, Jeannie McLeod Beck (Timothy) and nephew Cody Beck, grandchildren Vera Krystine and newborn Atticus Eugene; his step-mother, Eleanor “Ellie" McLeod, step-sister, Cheryl Wilmer (Henry), step-brother, Ben “Skip” Ulmer, along with his aunts, uncles, and cousins and especially his cousin, Donnie McLeod his hunting buddy.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Western Branch Little League, PO Box 9784, Chesapeake, VA 23321.
