Lisa (Carter) Moersen

Sumter, SC ….. Lisa Carter Moersen, age 56, beloved wife of 36 years to Thomas Joseph Moersen, died on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born at the Tift County Hospital in Tifton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Aneal and Lucille McCarthy Carter.

Lisa was the President of the Wilson Hall Athletic Association and President of the Rising Stars of Miss Libby’s School of Dance.

Survivors include her husband Thomas; her son and daughter in law Jay and Kirkley Moersen of Clemson; her son Neal Moersen of Sumter; her daughter Emily Moersen of Sumter;  two grandchildren, Caroline and Charlotte Moersen of Clemson; one brother, Dennis Carter of Birmingham, AL; one sister and brother in law, Suzanne and Francis Wisham of Tifton, GA; one brother-in-law, Henry Sparrow of Valdosta, GA; two nephews, Eric Wisham of Tifton, GA and Kevin Sparrow and his wife Erica of Canton, GA; one niece, Melody Beckstrom and her husband Josh of Warwick, GA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Faye Sparrow of Valdosta, GA, and by a sister in law, Kelly Carter.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Wilson Hall School Gymnasium.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Wilson Hall Athletic Association, 520 Wilson Hall Rd., Sumter, SC 29150: to the Rising Stars of Miss Libby’s School of Dance, 155 W. Wesmark Blvd, Sumter, SC 29150 or to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 28 West 44th Street, Suite 609, New York, NY 10036.
