Sumter, SC…May Kelley Davis, age 92, beloved wife of seventy years to John Charles Davis, Sr., passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at her home.
Born in Wedgefield, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Tillinghast Kelley and Daisy Ruth Hinson Kelley. Mrs. Davis retired from the billing department at Black River Electric Coop after forty years of faithful service. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church for over seventy years, where she taught children's Sunday School for over forty years.
Surviving in addition to her husband Charles of Sumter, are two grandsons, Colin C. Davis and his wife Tiffany of Sumter and Wesley R. Davis and his wife Nicole of Florence; one brother, Robert B. Kelley and his wife Elizabeth of Wedgefield; and four great grandchildren, Madelynn and Millie Davis of Sumter and Sage and Griffin Davis of Florence.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her son John “Johnny” C. Davis, Jr., two sisters, Mattie Sinclair and Louise Scheule and four brother, Daniel T. Kelley, Jr., Franklin D. Kelley, Raymond Kelley, and Carroll E. Kelley.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Stephen Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at her home.
