Sumter, SC…Thomas Saul Cook, Jr., age 51, beloved husband of twenty four years of Laurie Ann Cook, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
He was born on October 11, 1967 in Sumter, the son of the late Thomas Saul Cook, Sr. and Peggy Shipman Cook. He was a 1986 graduate of Sumter High School. He married Laurie Ann Cook on August 12, 1994 in Sumter. He worked at Suburban Propane since 1989, currently as the manager of the Hartsville Distribution Center. Tom was an avid motocross racer winning many championships along with his son Zack and daughter Hailey. Tom founded and played the drums in a band called Heartbreak Station from 1992-1999. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
In addition to his wife of Laurie of Sumter, he is survived by one son, Thomas Zackery Cook; two daughters, Hailey Elaine Cook and fiancée Jacob Bartrug and Sibbie; one brother, Todd Cook and his wife Cristal all of Sumter; three sisters, Glenda Crawford and her husband Ronnie of Greenville, Garlon Jeffords and her husband Vern of Sumter, and Gay Berry of Myrtle Beach; eight nieces, Danika, Lorri, Lindsey, Tori, Gracie, Audrey, Ellen and Rebecca; and seven nephews, Timothy, Garett, Buster, Vincent, Mark, Shaw and Miles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, one brother, Thomas Shipman Cook and one niece, Sylvie Nieves.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Crawford officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Garett Stokes, Timothy Chandler, Mike Christy, Vincent Cook, Mark Dinkins, James Gurney, Roger Reed, and Huy Trinh.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Phillip Atkinson, Rob Dinkins, Buster Body, Nathan O’Conner, Shaw Grimsley, Miles Grimsley, Dan Gregory, Keith Nevers, Tom Ratajczak Preston Lee, Tony Mossor, Eddie Lambert, Sammy Varner, Vern Jeffords, Brad Grimsley, Tripp Ratajczak.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home.
