Sumter, SC .......... Anne-Marie Marcelle Jones (Nee Marchand) died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Sep 15, 2025, following a long illness.
She was born on Dec 3, 1942, in Meulles, Calvados, in the Normandy region of France to the late Robert Theodore Marchand and Marie-Therese Odile Rameyssen. She became a Naturalized US Citizen on November 13, 1984, and she lived most of her life in the United States, but she continued to make periodic visits to her relatives in France.
Madame Jones was a dedicated French teacher at Thomas Sumter Academy in Sumter, SC from August 1995 to August 2011. Many will remember the annual “Foreign Language Night” events that she produced to show off the language skills of her students.
She is survived by a daughter Micheline Mary Callicott (Nee Phelan), a grandson, Theodore Callicott, and her current husband, Michael D. Jones.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, a sister, Micheline Marchand Pennec, and her former husband Thomas E. Phelan.
A visitation to celebrate the life of Anne-Marie will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
