Sumter, SC…Annette Madeline Drane Taylor, age 86, beloved wife of 62 years to the late William Allen Taylor, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Covenant Place.
Annette was born in Braintree, United Kingdom, a daughter of the late Leonard Drane and the late Irene Warren Drane. Annette found joy in knitting and had a remarkable talent in the kitchen. She loved to read, especially detective and spy novels. Her artistic gifts were well known; she created beautiful toile and China paintings and crafted handmade greeting cards for every occasion. Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and a loyal friend. Her presence touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Allan Taylor, and his wife, Sandra, of Fox Fire, North Carolina; her daughter, Cheryl A. Wilson and her husband Andrew of Columbia, SC; her son-in-law, James Eidson of Dalzell, SC, five grandchildren, Steven Wilson, Nichole Holroyd, Nadine Gjerde, Alexander Eidson, and Cameron Eidson, and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne Eidson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:30 pm at Church of the Holy Cross with Ft. Michael Ridgill officiating. The inurnment will follow the service in the Church of the Holy Cross Cemetery.
A reception will be held following the burial in the church fellowship hall.
