Beverly Ann (Beimer) Helms

Sumter, SC… Beverly Ann Beimer Helms, age 88, beloved wife of 45 years to the late Eugene Ray Helms, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Beverly was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, a daughter of the late Henry Beimer and the late Dorothy Beimer. Beverly had various jobs throughout her life. She started her career with Brammer Manufacturing, later helping her husband with Gene’s Appliance Sales and Services. She then worked for Wendy’s, and her final employment was with Quality Cleaners. She started bowling in 1958 and was a long-time member of the Davenport Metro Bowling Association (previously the Davenport Bettendorf Bowling Association). In 1980, she joined the Association Board, where she was the secretary of the Davenport Bettendorf Association 600 Club. She was 2nd Vice President in 1987, then moved up to 1st Vice President. She was inducted into the Davenport Metro Hall of Fame in 1990. Along with these accomplishments, she bowled her highest game in the 1979/1980 season with 298. In her free time, she coached youth bowling and softball for many years. Besides her love of bingo, cruises, and playing penny slots, she loved her dogs, Candy and Heidi, as well as her grand-pups, Shilo, Bella, and Blu. Beverly will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark Helms and his wife Cindi of Sparta, GA, and Curtis Helms of Sumter, SC; her daughter, Denise Allen and her husband Michael of Sikeston, MO; her grandchildren, Scott McCartney, Debbie Mau, Sarah McCalester, and Mackenzie Helms; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Beimer.
