Bill Layton

Sumter, SC…..Bill Layton, age 91, beloved husband to Paula J. Layton, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at his home.

Bill was born in Darlington, SC, a son of the late Hilton Guy Layton and the late Elzine Beasley Layton. Bill was a member of Ashwood Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was also a former member of American Legion Post 15. A lifelong car enthusiast, Bill especially loved working on vehicles and had a particular passion for Corvettes. He also enjoyed exploring junk shops and uncovering hidden treasures, a pastime he shared with his wife, Paula.

In addition to his wife, left behind to cherish his memory are his brother, Ronny M. Layton, and his wife, Robbie, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Mark Layton; his first wife, Shirley Deaton; and his sister, Ann Layton Watts.

A memorial service will be held at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm with military honors to follow.
