Billy Ray Brown

Sumter, SC .... Billy Ray Brown, age 82, beloved husband of 50 years to Martha Ann Wilson Brown, died on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born in Danielsville, GA, he was the son of the late Jessie Brown and Molly Simmons Brown. After high school, Billy joined the U.S. Air Force and retired as a MSGT after over 27 years of service.  He enjoyed working in his yard and also liked to collect old steins from the different places he traveled to.  Billy never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting new people.  His true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Martha, he is survived by, a son, Barry Brown and his wife heather of Rembert; a daughter, Kimberly Shumpert of Sumter; four grandchildren, Katelyn Williams, Brandon Trimm, Brittany Trimm, and Kyle Shumpert; and a niece, Gail Clegg and her husband Karl of Ninety Six, SC.

He is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 5:00 pm at Wedgefield Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Goff officiating.

The interment will be on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 12:00 pm in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1333 Pleasant Hill Rd., Martin, GA 30557.
