Bobby Eugene West

Sumter, SC…Bobby Eugene West, age 82, beloved husband of 45 years to Paula Matilda Kern West, died Friday, August 9, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Cedartown, GA, he was a son of the late Joseph Pink West and Willie Ann Newby West.  After high school, Bobby served in the U.S. Air Force for over 24 years.  He retired at Shaw AFB in 1983 as a MSGT.   He then began his career in Civil Service at Shaw AFB and retired in 1996 after 13 years of service.  Bobby loved going to the lake and enjoyed fishing.  He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Paula, he is survived by two sons, Bobby West Jr. and his wife Vicki of Cedartown, GA and Tommy West and his wife Clara of Dalzell; One daughter, Claudia Huther and her husband Walter of Germany; one brother, Jerry West and his wife Beverly of Cedartown, GA; three sisters, Helen Molock, Fannie West and Nancy Dodgens, all of Cedartown, GA; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Jimmy West and Johnny West.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 12:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating.  Full military honors will follow the service and will be rendered by the Shaw AFB Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, from 11:00-12:00 pm, at Bullock Funeral Home.
