Carol M. Ziecker

Sumter, SC........ Carol Marie Abplanalp Ziecker, age 90, beloved wife of 70 years to Raymond Harley Ziecker, died on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at NHC Healthcare of Sumter.

Mrs. Ziecker was born in Clark Summit, PA, the daughter of the late William Howard Abplanalp and Theresa LaCoe Abplanalp. Carol will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a dedicated servant of the Lord and was a member of St James Lutheran Church for over 47 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are: One son, Matt Ziecker and his wife Karen of Start, LA; Three daughters, Debra R. Rabon and her husband Gary, Lynne Russo, and Renay A. Russell and her husband B.J., all of Sumter; Two brothers, William Abplanalp and his wife Linda of Greensboro, NC, and Timothy Abplanalp and his wife Gail of Canton, NY; Six grandchildren, Janet Russo-Wallick, David Bryan, Jr., Betsy Blazier, Mark Rabon, Adam Russell, and Greg Ziecker; and Five great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jane Dodd.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, January 18th, 2023 at St. James Lutheran Church with the Rev. Christine Parham officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 12:00-1:00pm, at St. James Lutheran Church.
