Sumter, SC…Charlie Evenich, age 86, beloved husband of thirty-six years to Hazel Maroney Evenich, died on Sunday, April 11, 20210 at NHC Healthcare
Born in Dawson, NM, he was the son of the late John Evenich and Mary Mytia Evenich. Mr. Evenich served in the US Air Force and was an aircraft mechanic. He retired as a Senior Master Sargent. He went on to work for and retired from United Insurance in 1995. Mr. Evenich loved to bass fish and was a fishing guide for over twenty years at Santee. In addition, he was an avid Gamecock fan. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Evenich was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Elks Lodge, Midlands Retired Military Association, and the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charles J. Evenich and his wife Jayne of Sumter and Patrick D. Evenich and his wife Debbie all of Sumter; two daughters, Deborah Shade and her partner Scott Parker of Dalzell and Charlene Fowler of Jacksonville, FL; two step sons, Dr. Michael Dreher and his partner Michael Danke of NY and Donald Dreher and his wife Shirley of Sumter; one brother, John Evenich; one sister, Dorothy Nelson both of California; along with five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
